We all have our talents and skills that are inherent to our nature. That’s why some people do better in some areas than others. It’s all about finding out what you’re good at and then, you will be unstoppable.

That’s the case of little Gavel, a German shepherd puppy fostered out to the official residence of Queensland Gov. Paul de Jersey, in Australia. His breed is famous for providing one of the fiercest police dogs, and the Governor had great plans for the 6-week-old puppy to become one of the best dogs to join the police force.

But just like a human that doesn’t like what they do for a living, Gavel got bored while training. It turns out he was more interested in socializing and getting belly rubs than learning how to sniff out drugs and catch bad guys.

It’s not that wasn’t interested in all the cool stuff they were training him for, it just wasn’t his thing. Gavel did not display the necessary aptitude for a life on the front line, as he was too busy being adorable and consequently, he ended up getting fired from the job even before it started and got reassigned to a newly-created position as the Governor’s Vice-Regal Dog.

His duties now include greeting guests and welcoming tour groups to the Governor’s House as well as attending functions and formal ceremonies with the governor and Mrs. De Jersey.

As the saying goes, every cloud has a silver lining, and Gavel now has the job of his dreams, getting all the attention and belly rubs he deserves!
