Totally Zen: Photographer Captures Images of Relaxing Dogs To Remind Us To Loosen Up and Live a Little

Practicing meditation is believed to bring many benefits to one’s body and soul. It expands your consciousness, brings relaxation to the body and releases stress, clearing your head of any emotional ‘pollution’ that might be lingering on.

Alex Cearnsan accomplished and leading animal photographer from Australia, doesn’t believe that humans are the only ones that can benefit from the art of meditation. That’s what she shows in her new book, Zen Dogs.

After working for 19 years as a police officer, Alex quit her job and decided to pursue her passion to photograph animals. Since then, she has received more than 100 awards for her work as well as winning the 2016 International Pet Photographer of The Year.

The photo series portrayed in the book are a collection of pictures Alex took at her studio of dogs blissfully closing their eyes, a blink captured in a split second.

”Every day I’m inspired by their boundless ability to fill the world with joy and unconditional love. Their incredible generosity, responsiveness and sense of fun make them ideal to photograph. I hope this series of images is a gentle and positive reminder of the peace, calm and joy that dogs bring to our lives,” Alex says in an interview to The Guardian.
