Yoga is such an incredible exercise to help you stay physically and emotionally fit and yoga teachers put a lot of thought on creating the perfect ambiance for their students in their studio, to evoke a mood and calm their minds so they can fully focus on their poses.
Fortunately, if you practice yoga you don’t have to be confined to a studio, since it can be done virtually anywhere so you don’t miss on its benefits for your mind and body and soul.
How It All Began
Lainey Morse, who owns a farm named ”No Regrets”, in Oregon, was hosting a children’s birthday party at her property when one of the mothers, who happened to be a yoga instructor, gave her an idea to open her scenic farm for yoga students to really take advantage of the great outdoors.
Since she raises eight goats on the property, her only request was that the goats would have free access to the classes and would be free to join in, if they wished.
It didn’t take much for the idea to become a success. They came up with the catchy name GoatYoga and the rest is history!
On their website, they couldn’t have summarized the experience better: ”Goat Yoga is Animal-Assisted Therapy in a natural setting with an unexpectedly smart, social, and profoundly cuddly animal. It’s not a cancer cure, but it IS an unbelievable distraction from politics, work, stress, sickness or depression. They might jump on your back, stare into your soul, burp in your ear, or give goat hugs. Most often they’ll just lay down on your yoga mat and snuggle up next to you… just as you perfect your pose.”
According to CNN, they currently have a waiting list of over 1200 hundred people waiting to cuddle with the cute farm animals and get a pose or two done in between.
