There are many sweet interactions shared between humans and animals and this bonding moment between an orangutan and an expecting mother will certainly make you smile.
Rajang is a loving 48-year-old Orangutan living at the Colchester Zoo in England. He’s very smart and the star of the zoo!
Orangutans are highly intelligent animals and share 97% of their DNA with humans. Primates are often keen in showing empathy to one another and humans alike.
When Kayley Bettany was pregnant with her daughter Brooke, she visited Rajang’s enclosure with her husband, Kieran Bettany.
Rajang was immediately drawn to Kayley baby bump and her husband immediately started filming the sweet moment.
In the video, Kayley stands across from Rajang, separated by the glass wall. The orangutan seems mesmerized by Kayley’s belly and as she lifts her shirt to show it to him, he caresses the glass and gives a big kiss in her tummy!
Speaking to the Daily Mail, Mrs. Bettany said: ‘”When he started playing around with my bump through the glass it amazed me. I never thought the orangutan would react this way – he even had a tear in his eye. We had to share it with the world because it was just amazing.”
The family returned to the zoo to visit Rajang, this time, with baby Brooke in hand!
