Often times we complain that men don’t put out as much thought on gifts. Getting the majority of them to even remember a special date is already a plus!
Matthew, from Ohio, went above and beyond to make his wife-to-be feel special and loved by making her a unique gift for their wedding.
His then fiancee, Jeanine, is a Potterhead, the individuals known for being obsessed with everything related to the Harry Potter World, so it was a safe bet that unless he really screwed it up, she was going to love it. So he made her a real life Pensieve.
For the ones not very familiar with the Harry Potter story series, a Pensieve is a shallow bowl filled with a special liquid that allows certain memories to be viewed from a non-participant, third-person perspective point of view.
He spent weeks making this adorable gift and it certainly has paid off. To Harry Potter fans and non-fans alike, the creativity and thoughtfulness into the execution of the idea were amazing. He posted on Imgur the end result of this ingenious gift.
He started by taking 8 hours of pottery classes to make the pottery basin in which he engraved the Deathly Hallows symbol along with his and hers initials.
Janine is no muggle, so Matthew provided her own customized wand that he purchased on Etsy and fitted a magnet on the tip.
Next, he filled 70 tiny vials, each containing a hand-written note and drawing about her that makes him smile.
Like this one where she got ‘attacked’ by a stingray in Stingray City in the Cayman Islands. Definitely an inside joke here!
Each bottle had a small magnet attached to the bottom of it to make it easy for Janine to use her wand to retrieve one of the special memories.
Matthew made sure he included a box of empty vials and empty sheets of glittery paper to be filled with future memories.
He even made sure Hedwig make the personal delivery to Janine.
The end result is one of the most thoughtful and romantic gifts a girl could ever receive and we are certain Janine appreciated every single bit of it!
