The world is a beautiful place and for little Gremlin, it was getting harder and harder to see all that beauty everyday.

Gremlin is a senior pit bull dog who was rescued from a life of abuse as a dog fighter and was adopted by her loving parents, Mariesa and Chris Hughes about seven years ago. She went through a lot of medical problems, including cancer and about a year and a half ago, her human parents started noticing some cloudiness on her eyes. The vet diagnosed her with cataracts.

After undergoing surgery, she develop a painful glaucoma and her right eye turned completely blind. If all that suffering wasn’t enough for the sweet pup, Gremlin develop myopia in her only seeing eye, which made her unable to see things clearly, unless it was in close proximity to her.

This condition made the once sweet, funny and playful therapy dog become anxious, depressed and withdrawn. She would bump into things, fall down the stairs and became afraid of other dogs and people alike.

The Hughes were heartbroken and couldn’t stand seeing their little girl like that. They tried getting Gremlin fit for glasses but when the vet recommended contact lenses to correct her vision, they weren’t convinced that would help, but went ahead and tried it on her anyway.

“They are our family and we have made a promise to them to give them the best life we can,” Marisa said to the Today Show.

Some humans get skirmish even at the thought at inserting contact lenses on their own eyes, imagine doing it to someone else’s eyes, especially when that someone is a dog.

Mariesa and Chris were courageous enough to do just that to Gremlin, and now their little girl is back to her old self and very happy!

Gremlin is a lucky girl to have Chris and Mariesa in her life. They are amazing people that dedicate their lives to rescue and give a better life to senior dogs all over the country, from abused senior greyhounds to pit bulls, they are committed to help senior dogs live the remainder of their years in loving forever homes.

Aging dogs, just like a human senior citizen, need more care and monitoring than a young dog would. They need to be checked by a vet regularly and most of the time, have their health problems addressed and taken care of, but that become very expensive.

Every year, senior dogs are abandoned and surrender to animal shelters, where most of the time they get passed on by prospect adopters who prefer much younger dogs.

The Hughes are known for their love of senior dogs. They are proud parents of eight of them and through their Mr. Mo Project, they are able to find homes to rescue senior dogs all over the country as well as pay for vet bills of senior dogs to make sure their continue to live with their families that otherwise wouldn’t be able to afford the veterinary expenses.

Senior dogs are the ideal companion. They are already house broken, will most likely leave your shoes alone and will give you all the love and gratitude in the world for giving them a forever loving home where they can leave their last years. Please consider adopting a loving senior.

One of these things is not like the other 😀 @instapitbullies @rescuedogsofinstagram #thelineup #gremlin #familyhasnobreed
